Dave is extremely passionate about Biology and especially immunology, so if you have an interest in disease and such--this is a good class for you! The tests can be very tricky though, I can see how it could be hard for students who are not science oriented.

Kittlesen is probably one of the most enthusiastic teachers I've ever met. His lectures are both entertaining and engaging, and you can tell that he really wants to convey the material to you in the best/most efficient way possible. The tests aren't difficult as long as you take good notes during lecture and read the book.

Easily the hardest class I have ever taken. Tests are impossible even if you attend every lecture, go to office hours, meet with a study group, and spend 10+ hours pouring over the text each week. DO NOT TAKE if you just have a casual interest in bio. Suffer through only if you must for Pre-Med. THIS IS NOT THE CLASS FOR YOU if you are simply trying to fulfill a science requirement!

Professor Kittlesen is both entertaining and willing to help his students. His exams are tough but only if you haven't kept up with the readings and lectures.

Professor Kittlesen is a great lecturer. Do the reading, go to class, and ACTUALLY LEARN the material, and you will do fine. Kittlesen's test have a bad reputation, but they are quite fair.

I didn't find Kittlesen to be nearly as hard as some suggest. His tests are all multiple choice and very straightforward. Just go to class and read the chapters he assigns and you'll be fine. Really.

Having said that, take this class! I learned a LOT. Kittlesen likes to inject his own work as a case study, which some find egotistical, but I find I can appreciate a subject better when I know how it's used to save lives.

Intro Bio is definitely challenging. You really have to know the material in order to apply it in a new way on the test. Although Dr. Kittlesen makes the lectures interesting, he focuses on things that are not emphasized in the textbook, so I think that it's important to go to class. Besides, you get extra credit points for iclicker participation. Nevertheless, the tests are tricky and some of the questions seem to come out of nowhere. It is a rewarding class, but not a truly fun class.
