Grace Hale stopped one of our classes to try and stop someone from going to the bathroom, and she called a student disrespectful for coughing in class. She is a decent teacher when she isn't so focused on her own ego or caught up telling stories about herself/her books. Take this class cause it's easy, but you will probably have to do the readings. Don't skip lecture as tempting as it is.
This semester Grace Hale and Matthew Hedstrom co-taught the class. They switch off with a new unit every two weeks and it makes sure the class is never repetitive or boring. They teach an interdisciplinary type of history I haven't experienced before, but as someone who previously did not like history, I was always engaged. I also think they are great people: the way the two professors handled the shooting and the loss of our classmate, Devin, was very respectable. It allowed us the time, space, and desire to grieve and it showed us that they genuinely cared not only about him, but about us in the aftermath. I thank them for that. I will miss this class and my TAs!
