This is kind of a strange class because its only 2 credits but Rossman requires about 200 pages of reading a week. We started off pretty general talking about the history of genocide and perpetrator motivation and things like that and then moved into talking about a different genocide a week. The class is completely discussion, and you have to lead the discussion (i.e. come up with questions with a partner or two and then ask them to the class) three times during the semester. The only assignments were two four page book reviews on any of the books we read and then an 8 page comparative book review for the final paper. The papers really aren't that bad but just requires that you finish the book for that week early which can be hard. Rossman really knows what he's talking about which makes the class a lot more interesting, but it is on genocide so it can get pretty depressing at times. Overall I would recommend it as long as you're prepared for a lot of reading and being active in discussions because thats a big part of your grade as well.
