Easy, but really bad. It's just so incredibly boring and participation in it is required.
Take this class if you have a sub-3.7 GPA and don't want to write papers. It's pretty easy to get an A- in this class, but not an A. Be warned, though, this class may or may not frustrate you to no end.
Notes:
- There are no papers in this class.
- Assignments are pretty easy, but pretty much never straightforward. The grading scheme for assignments seems totally arbitrary--it's like the professor rolls a pair of dice and gives you a 90 +/- what he rolled.
- The "simulations" are dumb, poorly put together.
- Participation grade is like 20% and is basically determined by how many times you talk in class.
- Professor cold calls people every class, particularly those with low participation.
- Professor takes pride in being one of the only professors at UVA without a PhD; he is pretty cocky.
The course is worth it for the gpa boost, otherwise it is just kind of boring. Professor Muir expects a lot out of the homework assignments but doesn't give much detail on how they are supposed to be done. Also, he prides himself on caring about his students, but in actuality he only cares about himself.
