Holt is the nicest professor I have ever met. No question that he is the best guy to take STAT 212 with. The way he teaches is that he gives one lecture a week, and the second class period each week is optional Q&A about the homework sets. Every week you have 1 homework set and 1 quiz. Only test is the final.
The teacher is probably the nicest teacher, but the webwork was hard. However, the help centers are helpful so it is no excuse to get less than 100% on each hw. There is no curve however and I feel that i should have gotten a better grade considering how much work I put into the class..
Prof Holt is the nicest man ever. Webwork is frustrating though - I felt like I deserved a higher grade for how much work I put into the class. It's nice that he uses excel instead of tables or minitab, so that's a plus.
Holt is a fantastic guy, but the structure of this class - taught almost entirely through webwork - needs improvement. There were long lines to take the weekly quizzes, the TAs couldn't explain the problems or answer questions, and although the idea of only one lecture a week and no discussion sounds great, in practice it's not enough face time to convey enough information. This class should have been a breeze, but it was too difficult.
Easy class, loved webwork.
The class was pretty structured. Each week we had a homework assignment and quiz. Everything was done online. Everying was done online, and we had to go to an understaffed Stat Lab to take our quizzes. If you do lot of practice quizzes, it is possible to do ok on the quizzes. This was more of a course in using Excel than a statistics class.
Holt is the best professor to take this class from. He is very efficient about lectures and speaks english (always a plus with a math class).
