Professor Korfhagen is the best. He's literally the kindest professor and cares so much about the subject and his students. He's a generous grader, and the cutoff for an A is a 93, which is nice compared to the typical department cutoff of 96. I learned a lot about the transition from Latin to Spanish but was never stressed about this class. It was a pleasure to be in his class and I would definitely recommend Professor Korfhagen.
This was such an interesting class! I am a Cog Sci and Spanish major so this class was perfect for both of those interests because we delved into the history of the linguistics of the language and the changes that have occurred phonetically over the course of history. Also, you don't need to have much experience with linguistics to do well in the class. I had some but there were definitely people in the class that had much much more than I did and I still got an A. The professor will also explain anything you're struggling with because he knows people are on different levels of experience with linguistics (esp bc this is a Spanish class -- some is taught in english though). The professor is also one of the sweetest people I have met and is so unbelievably helpful with anything you could need help with. The exams weren't too hard and we never had any homework or other work. 10/10 this class or any class with Korfhagen. #tCF2020
