Gillian is kind of goofy but really nice. She isn't a native speaker but her Spanish is beautiful--very clear and well-accented. She can be a tough grader, but she's not that bad. If you put time and thought into your translations you'll get A to B range easily. She picks diverse and interesting texts that make all the theory worth it.
Theory is by far the worst part of the class but also doesn't take much effort to do well. The actual translation is pretty fun and interesting. No final exam, just a project which isn't too bad and she gives you plenty of time. Overall, workload is very manageable.
As a Spanish class, I wouldn't necessarily take it unless you were a major. You speak more English than you would in other courses (much of our reading is in English) so if your goal is to keep your Spanish sharp, maybe take another class. That said, we do have discussions in Spanish.
