3300 is a lot of work, but totally manageable. As long as you understand the gist of the readings before class, you should be okay going into discussion because the professors (and Prof. Shepard especially) understand that the texts can be hard. The course also included three essays, three quizzes, and a final. None were too difficult and although sometimes I found discussion a little dry, Prof. Shepard cared a lot about the material and taught it well.
So I liked Profesor Shepard, but my one thing was that I was constantly afraid of speaking up in class because she will say "uh no" and correct you. You have to be smart and know that it's okay to be wrong and that shouldn't discourage you. I know it discouraged me a bit, but be sure to not let that happen. She gets a bit frustrated, and reasonably so, when nobody responds in class, but to avoid that and make class more bearable, you need to participate, even if you think you're wrong :) She's a nice grader and I really liked her :)
