SPAN 3300

Overall, Professor O'Malley was an excellent professor! I'm currently taking SPAN 3300 with him and he's been great! He has high energy and enthusiasm and learns everyone's names within a week. You have three quizzes, one for each unit (poesía, narrativa, y teatro) that are very straight forward and simple AND he brings oreos and chocolate! Each one is worth 6%.
Participation is worth a good amount so it is necessary to raise your hand at least once or twice in class. He also calls on people often so it isn't too big of an issue.
You'll have to write 3 essays. The first will be worth 5% while the other two will be worth 15%. You get one rewrite that you can use. However, if you choose to rewrite the second essay for example, you won't be able to rewrite the third essay. The rewrite is averaged with your original score and that constitutes your final score. Personally, I never had to rewrite an essay and I went to his office hours for each essay (which he really appreciates!). His grading was very fair.
Honestly, this class was a lot less work than I had originally anticipated and it was a lot more fun and enjoyable than I previously thought! Each professor teaching 3300 has his/her own style of teaching but I would 10/10 recommend taking it with APO!
