Professor Rini is absolutely lovely, incredibly funny, and very light-hearted. I love Professor Rini. He was one of my favorite professors from this semester. With that being said, the content of this course is incredibly difficult and the structure of the course makes it feel like you are being set up to fail. There is an exam every 4-5 classes, and the exams are from several years ago, so whether or not Professor Rini actually was able to cover all of the content on the upcoming exam is basically irrelevant to what will be on the exam. Some classes, Professor Rini did not even talk about Hispanic linguistics. He would talk about his cat, his time in Puerto Rico, or his family. This would be wonderful if not for the fact that the exam would come, and I would have about 1-2 days to try and prepare for it via rote memorization of a worksheet handout that he only loosely covered in class, because he was too busy talking about his cat, his time in Puerto Rico, or his family.
