Señor Richey is the man, take any Spanish course with him. He slows down when its obvious people are having a hard time. Very understanding of how much work students have and is flexible in accommodating for his students. Plenty of times where I didn't have work completed on time and he let me make it up with no late penalty. Most chill and lenient teacher I've had at UVA
This course is an equivalent to maybe 3 years of high school Spanish. I had not studied Spanish in years, so it took time for me to get used to this class. However, the teacher was instrumental in helping me adjust to the study of Spanish. He is very kind and understanding and welcomes all questions. He was eager to help students on anything and gave extensive feedback on our written assignments (when applicable). He was very kind to students and actively helped students in class if they were making mistakes or had doubts. He welcomed all opinions/viewpoints/backgrounds. Most of the class meetings were a variety of activities to practice what we had learned (flipped classroom model).
There were a lot of assignments such as daily connect activities, unit projects/ePortfolio assignments, or final project work. There is a lot of work, but the work itself isn't overly difficult. Just make sure you stay on top of your work and you will be fine in this class.
Exams/quizzes were representative of the material learned and not very difficult.
If you need to knock out the WL requirement for Spanish, then I would RECOMMEND taking SPAN 2010 with Professor Richey, he is one of the best (if not the best) professors you could have for this class. #tCFfall22
