SPAN 2010

Professor Young has been one of the most incredible professors I have had the pleasure of taking a course with at UVA. I was not really looking forward to taking this class heading into the semester, but these past few months, I have found myself looking forward to it every week. Prof. Young is a thorough and engaging teacher of Spanish, even for those who might not find the subject enjoyable. The work load is of course a lot (due to dept. requirements, not her), but she is constantly in communication with her students about due dates and expectations. I'm sad I won't have the opportunity to take SPAN 2020 with her. If you have the option to take one of your classes with her, I absolutely recommend it -- you will not regret it.

Professor Young was an incredible teacher, and one I wish I could take SPAN 2020 with! I cannot say enough kind words about her course -- she clearly communicated course expectations, and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She made an 8 a.m. Spanish course fun and engaging, even during cold winter mornings. I feel like I grew so much during SPAN 2010 with Professor Young, and would 100% recommend anyone who is taking this course to take it with her.

This is one of my favorite classes I have ever taken! I am not a strong Spanish speaker and am really able to speak, write, and listen in Spanish after taking this class. Prof. Young is really a great teacher and everything made so much test which made the tests not bad at all. There is not too much work at all and she is a very fast grader! One of the best classes and professors!

Taking Spanish 2010 with Professor Young was easily the best decision I have ever made. Though the class has a lot of work (as expected because it is a higher level class), Professor Young is very understanding and kind towards her students. She emphasizes group work in the classroom, so I never felt like I was alone. She also brings the class to life with her positive and energetic attitude, so there was never a dull moment in class. She is very helpful and ready to answer any questions you have, and she creates a very comfortable environment for her students. I would highly recommend taking SPAN 2010 with Professor Young.

Professor Young did an outstanding job teaching this course. She is very understanding and easy to reach out of the classroom if you ever have questions or are stuck on an assignment. Professor Young creates a comfortable learning atmosphere in the classroom and motivates all students to communicate solely in Spanish. Her teaching approach is exceptional, effectively delivering the course material, and she consistently provides valuable feedback on assignments. If you're enrolled in SPAN 2010, I highly recommend taking it with Professor Young!

Sara Young is an amazing professor! While the course forces you to speak Spanish the entire time, she always guides you through speaking and encourages risk taking when speaking. She is very understanding for life circumstances when it comes to work as she is genuinely one of the nicest people I have met, not just professor. She is excellent at teaching the course material and explaining every piece of work. While the class can have a large amount of homework, she makes the class reasonable by providing ample amount of time for the work. Definitely would recommend if you can take her.

Professor Young is incredible!! I had her for both 1060 and 2010 and I cannot recommend her class more. Her lessons were thorough, clear, and easy to follow. She is so kind and approachable and I always felt comfortable participating in class. It is so evident that she cares a lot about her students succeeding. There are a lot of assignments required for SPAN classes, but Professor Young is super communicative and helps you stay on top of when things are due. She regularly sent additional resources to help with practice and always made sure we had an example of what was expected. I can confidently say that Professor Young made taking Spanish enjoyable and helped me grow so much in my language learning. 1000% take her class!!!

Professor Young was very good about communicating deadlines for assignments and did an incredible job at setting aside time in class to review for upcoming quizzes and exams! All of the assignment instructions are reviewed in class in case anyone has questions and she graded very fair/easy as long as you submit your assignment on time! She is also very understanding of students course load and stress toward the end of the semester and is always willing to help make our lives easier!
