Professor Blumberg is a really nice woman who tries hard to make this class accessible for her students. It is impossible to get a poor grade if you come to lecture, at least skim the readings, and listen to what she says. She offers extra credit to your entire grade, not just assignments, and bends over backwards in grading to give you the best chance possible. If you're sure you like the subject and you can handle a professor rambling at times then there is no reason why you should fear taking this class.
Wouldn't necessarily call it an easy A because I still put in some serious work for this class. However, I would say that your chances of getting an A in her class is pretty freaking great. She is also one of THE kindest professors at UVA and will give you a LOT of chances to raise your grade. However, she is quite disorganized and often says excuses of why she is late to class - she can ramble on for such a long time that you might have think twice if you want to ask her something or go to office hours. She also says some really funny stuff and makes funny faces when talking about bonobos mating/sex in general, and this kind of wakes up the students from their in-class slumber. The material seemed dry to me at first, but I eventually learned to like what we were learning.Look at the previous rating to see the details and if you think about it, the requirements are pretty lenient for a 4000 level class. So if you want to raise your chances of getting an A, you should suck it up and take it, or you can just suffer in some difficult class and cry about your gpa later. It's a gamble, but if you have enough patience, I'd recommend taking her class.
Okay OKay Rae is on the older side and sometimes the class can feel nonlinear BUT if you do the readings and just somewhat pay attention in class you can actually learn a lot of applicable and useful information. Overall this class is not difficult, the readings can sometimes seem hefty, but she goes over all of them in class and you really only need to understand the main points and some relevant facts. Rae is a funny professor, but patience and faith is required if you take a class with her
