He obviously adores the subject, but he's not that great at teaching. Very difficult to understand due to his accent, and that made his jumpiness in lecture even more difficult to keep up with. It seemed like he talked about everything EXCEPT what was on the tests, but he does curve the grade as much as possible. If you're just taking this because it sounds more interesting than 1210 and you need the credit, don't make the same mistake I did. Take 1210 and spare yourself the stress.
Take this class, but not with Thuan- his lectures are very scattered, he is hard to understand, and his tests are hard to study for because they're hard to study for because of his scattered lectures.. Also, I went to his office hours once and he was kind of mean.. so just take it with someone else!
You just take notes of what he says in lecture. Those are good enough to get you an 80% on the midterms because while he says he only tests on the lecture notes, there is always something unfamiliar. If you read the textbook a little bit, and actually practice the easy math, you should get an A. If you show up to lecture, and read your notes once while craming, you can get a B no prob.
