All you need to do is go to class; no need to buy books.

Mcconnell is concise in his explanations, but also refreshingly humorous; interesting subject material, as well. Highly recommend this class.

No need to buy books. 5 exams (one is the final). Final is not comprehensive. McConnell is entertaining and knows the material well.

I took this class in Spring 2012. As a fourth-year sociology major, I thought this course was redundant, but non-majors who have a passing interest in sociology may enjoy this course more. It was (and most likely still is) an easy A since our tests were composed of 25 multiple-choice questions that were based almost entirely on lecture. All you needed to do was show up to lecture, tolerate McConnell's awkward lecturing style, and pay some semblance of attention in discussion sections. All in all, not a life-changing course, but a nice GPA-booster.

One of the easiest classes in the doc department. He said on the first day that he wouldn't test on the reading - tests came straight from word -for-word in lecture. I never bought the textbooks. If you take decent notes in class and go to discussion you can get an A without doing anything else

He is a great lecturer although sometimes I can't write down everything he says because he goes quickly. You don't have to read the textbook for this class. This is a LECTURE-based class. This class has no midterms/no finals/no essays. Just four exams. The first two count lower than the last two, so make sure to do well either consistently or considerably well on the last two. And, GO TO DISCUSSION. Even though it's only 5% of your grade, it will make or break a B from an A.

If you have the chance to take this class and don't, you're crazy. Bob is really interesting professor who presents the somewhat dry material in an engaging and fun way. He has a lot of great stories and you can tell he really knows his stuff. But best of all he says the funniest things in class...it's hard to contain laughter. The guy is a criminological genius! Oh yeah, and it's super easy. Go to class, take detailed notes, and you've got an A. Don't even buy the books or read them, the tests (25 questions, multiple choice) all come from lecture. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved this class, and that's not just because I want to be a Criminologist. McConnell is a fabulous lecturer and really knows his stuff (as well as being hilarious). As long as you go to lecture and discussion and study for the tests a bit you'll ace this class.

McConnell is an interesting guy but it make the class fun. The topic is super interesting and the readings are interesting (even though I thought they were not required to read to understand the material). Tests are all MC and super short. I usually got done with them in 15 minutes. Awesome professor and I definitely recommend anyone taking this class!

This class is super chill and you don't do anything. You don't even have to go to lecture and his tests are only about 25 questions and 100% based on very simple lecture statements. The teacher is also pretty funny and the subject is interesting.
