Class is focused on the historical history of Judaism rather than the biblical source. Most of the course deals with Rabbinical Judaism. Professor grades IDs and Short Answers ineffectively because you must answer the question in the exact wording she desires otherwise you will only get half credit. Do not recommend this class for students not interested in religious studies
I thought this class was very interesting, but sometimes found it difficult to follow and understand the material since I'm not Jewish. Most of the students in our class were, so they seemed to know a lot about the material. Professor Alexander is very friendly and approachable and she encourages you to question Judaic traditions (and doesn't get offended by it). If you can think critically on the spot, this class is definitely for you. There were two midterms and two papers, all of which were graded fairly, so it's not hard to pull at least a B with minimal effort.
