This semester Goering took a pretty radical approach to teaching Biblical Hebrew -- an 'oral/aural' strategy where we learned from videos and in-class conversation before we ever even looked at the Hebrew alphabet. No vocabulary lists, no translation into English. This would be an innovative way to teach any language; for an ancient language it's a little crazy. Goering made it work, though. He was incredibly enthusiastic and supportive and made this class genuinely fun. The workload was mostly watching the videos for homework, usually 30-40 minutes of videos before each class. Exams were hard but it was not impossible to do well. #tCFFall23
