I really liked this class and Paul is great! He really cares about students and will go out of his way to help his students. The class does have a fair amount of reading, but it's usually pretty interesting and is stuff everyone should be exposed to(like Marx, Smith, Rand, Locke). The class is literally just discussion so if you don't do all the reading you can just be quieter/BS that day. It really changes the way you think about the world and is a class everyone should take to and doesn't require strong interest/background in politics or economics. The two 5-6 pg papers and 2 exams aren't too bad...overall highly recommend!
This class was a seminar based class where we debated political and economic theory. There was a lot of reading, but it definitely improved my skills. We read Adam Smith, Locke, Marx, Rand, and other philosophical thinkers in the first half of the course, and in the second half we read more about various religious economic theory, and then debated current issues. .There were weekly reading quizzes (not too hard though), a Midterm and a cumulative final which include T/F, Multiple Choice, Quote ID, and an Essay. There were 2 5-6pg. papers, and then there was a grade for participation in discussion. Overall a valuable class, just stay on top of the reading.
