This course is great for anyone looking for an easy was to satisfy a humanities/non-western perspective requirement! There's only 3-4 exams, but you definitely need to come to class and take good notes because the powerpoints have little info on them. Professor Allen moves very slowly and makes sure to emphasize the important details. He also gives test reviews with almost the exact info that could be used on the exam (very easy to get an A on all of the exams!) Every week you will have a writing assignment due before your discussion section about the readings for the week (2-3 articles/primary sources per week). These assignments are a completion grade, but if you put some effort into it, it'll help you get more participation points for discussion.

Professor Allen is engaging and his lectures are interesting. He cracks jokes throughout class and makes sure everyone understands the material. Highly recommend this class!
I highly recommend this course, Professor Allen makes the class interesting, and very doable, even though a lot of information is covered. There are 3 exams, and one cumulative final. The exams are a mix of multiple choice and short answer. Professor Allen gives a study guide for each exam (including the final) and there ins't any information on the exams that is not covered on the study guide- so, if you fully complete the study guide and review it, you will do well. There is one weekly homework assignment based on a reading passage; some are longer than others, but never take more than an hour, and they're pretty much graded on completion. I highly recommend you take this class- lecture can be a bit dry sometimes, but it for the most part is a very doable A.
if you go to lecture and do all of the readings, then you will get a good grade in this class. Go to lecture, because he goes over topics that are not covered in the textbook.
