He obviously had great credentials to be hired at UVa but his teaching style needs much improvement. It was not enjoyable to take the course, because I felt like I knew everything already. If you have never taken a religious studies course, then you might be happy with him. If you are serious about religious studies and are a major, take a class with Mohrmann instead- she gives a much broader interpretation of Christianity.
