Fogarty is a great professor who really cares about his students. He is always willing to help and even gives you his phone number at the beginning of the class. However, this class has a lot of reading and there is a lot of material that is covered on the midterm and final which makes this class pretty difficult.
Professor Fogarty is a nice man, but DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. The whole semester he merely stood in front of class and MUMBLED for 75 mins. The readings were dry, and on top of that, he was unable to make the course interesting or engaging. I should've dropped the class when I could. This course is extremely outdated. There are no powerpoints; the only resources he offers are incoherent outlines. There are three grades in the class: a midterm, paper, & final. They are all take-homes, but the midterm and final are short answers/essays. Despite this being a low-demanding class, don't expect his grading to be easy; he's extremely nit-picky as to your wording and choice of vocabulary. Use your tuition money elsewhere.
Fogarty is an awesome guy and very interesting to talk to. That aside, this class is horrible. There is an absurd amount of reading (like it is almost impossible to do all of it), lectures are deathly boring and unorganized, and the midterm and final are nit-picky and unnecessarily difficult. I barely scraped a B+, and that was with doing all of the reading, taking incredibly diligent notes, and going to office hours. Unless you are a diehard Catholic or are extremely interested in the topic (and have a fair amount of knowledge going in), don't take this class.
