This course had to change a bit from the syllabus due to COVID which is understandable. Overall, prof. Van Horn is so nice and a good professor! This class is an upper level PSYC course but honestly felt more like a fun chill session more than anything. No outside homework, he just wants you to pay attention during class and stay off your phone. I didn't have to record his classes or anything, and he posts lecture slides to go over after class. We had 3 or 4 exams and quizzes that were in varying percentages but he lets you make one cheat sheet on a 8.5 x11" paper where you can cram as much information as you want (he collects the paper afterwards). The final group project turned into an individual 10 page paper that was a little rough but honestly wasn't too bad- you got to pick what you wrote about. I think he's a pretty lenient grader overall and just wants you to enjoy learning about the brain and fMRI techniques. He's really passionate about his work and was super welcoming, always encouraging students to hang out or talk to him about anything. All you need to do to get a good grade in this class is show up everyday, pay attention, and take some notes. He doesn't throw any curveball questions and his exams are super straightforward and pretty easy. 100% recommend the class! Seriously, no outside work or homework is a blessing.
