Go to every class for the mini quizes she sometimes puts at the end. You don't have to pay attention, as the notes are gonna be online and most quizzes you can discuss with people around you/look at the notes she already put online. Test-wise, you can leave it to the last day--the book has easy diagrams, the notes are thorough, and the tests only cover major concepts; no suprises
Anderson is a great professor and is extremely enthusiastic about the subject. While the lecture is technically not necessary if you read the book, you have to go at least 75% of the time for participation points. There are four exams, all non-cumulative, and the lowest or missed exam can be dropped. Overall a great and interesting course for anyone interested in psychology.
Overall, the class is pretty easy. I managed to just reread the chapters before the exam and get really good scores. I'm not the biggest fan of her lectures, she treats us like children and asks a lot of tedious or important questions. The worst part is when she asks for input from the class which is a forced method of class participation but (at 8 AM in the morning) is really undesirable.
Don't take this class if you want an easy A unless you consider yourself someone who enjoys psychology. The test questions are weirdly worded and its like they are meant to trip you up. 8:00 am is the worst time for a class and she does clicker questions which count for 5% of your grade. Just don't take
This is an easy intro level course for anyone interested in Psychology, specifically clinical psychology.
Grade System: 4 non-cumulative exams, she drops the lowest one, you also have clicker points and about 7 online assignments over the course of the semester
Lecture: Fun factor is low because it was at 8am, but Professor Anderson did her best to keep people engaged and to make it fun. She really tries to engage the class which sometimes was annoying but at least she cared to try. Going to lecture is probably unnecessary to do well on tests, she posts notes online and you learn more from the book anyway, but the clicker points make you show up.
Just skim the textbook and use the textbook website and you'll do fine on tests, I put very little effort into this class and ended up with a B
I would recommend only if you are pretty interested in clinical psychology, personality disorders, or Freud and that kind of thing, otherwise you will probably hate this class.
This class was pretty easy. There are assignments every once in a while where you write one paragraph, and she takes your best 3 of 4 test grades. She has clicker questions in class, though, so make sure you show up and stay awake. The material is interesting, though, because you can apply it to yourself and analyze your own personality.
She's a good lecturer, interesting material if you're into psychology, but the 8am time slot this semester killed it for me. In order to do well, you have to do well on the tests, homework and participation because all of those components combine to calculate your grade out of 100 points. This means a mistake can reasonably hurt your grade. TAs are not helpful at all. Review sessions are completely unnecessary.
