This class was an easy way to get a good base knowledge about political theory. If you go to the discussions and copy down the summary they give you for that week, that's all you have to study. You don't even have to go to the lectures or do the readings if you don't want to. But I'd recommend going to the lectures anyway because they were pretty interesting with background historical information. There's two midterms and a final and those make up almost all of the grade, but they're not too hard.
This class can be slow but I found it very enjoyable. The majority of the lecture is learning the history of the authors and their writings while the sections are where you really get into the analysis of the content. The history learned in lectures is not relevant for the exam but it’s still crucial to go as you learn what is important for the exams. There are 2 midterms and the final exam as well as section participation which all make up the final grade. The exams are a lot of writing! You only have 50 minutes to answer the questions but if you go to sections then the exams should not be very hard. I found them tricky but not impossible. Overall I enjoyed the content of this class but the lectures seemed pointless. However, when you get into the content of the class, you find the lectures much more interesting and engaging.
