ARTH 4591

The class is mainly discussion based on slides etc and based off of reading that we do in between classes. The reading assignments are large in the first half and then get smaller. There is an approx. 10 page paper due at the end in a typical Barolsky creative manner.

Barolsky is awesome in a seminar setting. Classes tend to be full of dumb sorority girls, but it's worth it to take a class with him. He's enthusiastic, loves Ovid, and has a vendetta against the word "like." Take this class!

Barolsky is so wonderful in a seminar setting. Though he can be fickle, he does so with a great sense of humor. There is no final paper, just a project of your choice based on the only course text - Ovid's metamorphoses

PB is an amazing professor. This seminar is one of the best classes here at UVA. You don't have to be an Art History major to take it. All you have to do is contribute to the discussion, do the reading, and write occasional response papers. PB really pushes you to become a better writer and speaker. Our final project consisted of a flexible ~10 page paper (on any relevant topic). If you're interested in art and want a class that meets once per week, this is the class for you!
