Cass is a great professor. He's incredibly knowledgeable and approachable. The homework is really difficult - I went to office hours every week along with half the class - but your grade is mostly based on your lab reports. That said, the class is rather small so you will get to know everyone quickly. This is a great class for anyone who's had mechatronics in the E-School.
Requires a lot of time, beyond the 6 hours a week, but Sackett is EXTREMELY helpful. If you come in to work later in the week and need help, he will be more than happy to come in to answer questions (even if you decide to come in at 8pm to work on stuff). Homework assignments require some time and thought so office hours are recommended. The final is tough, but fair considering the amount of material covered and it should be noted that the labs are worth the majority of the grade so work hard on those and the class is a cinch
This class is a lot of work, and it isn't necessarily easy, but Sackett is the man. You'll spend a lot of hours in the lab since it's 3-hour labs twice a week minimum. You'll usually stay after at least once a week, and sometimes have to come in on the weekends or outside of class.
Homeworks aren't too bad, but you'll probably want to go to office hours or work in a group if you want a 20/20.
I haven't had the final yet, but I heard it's difficult but fairly graded.
Overall, if you're willing to put some hours into it, don't be deterred by this class. Sackett is really friendly and really supportive. He's really fun too. I was in a class with a lot of friends, and since it's a relatively small class, we had a lot of fun in lab, even during the longer hours.
For me, this class counted as an elective in two different majors, so I definitely didn't mind putting in the work.
