This is arguably the most painful lab experience UVA has to offer, not because it's hard, but because it's just so annoying. The labs are unnecessarily long and the TA grading is completely BS. The post lab quizzes are a pain, but not hard. Also, the fact that the class is completely curved makes this an unpleasant experience. Admittedly, you will get a physical feel for otherwise abstract concepts in this class, but it's still a major drag.
This is probably the easiest science class I've taken. There's no midterm/final exam or lab reports to write. You work in groups of 3 or 2 and answer questions in the lab manual and turn them in. The online pre-lab quiz is worth 20% of your grade, the in-lab sheets are 50%, and the online timed post-lab quiz is 30%. My recommendation would be to read through the labs the day before, try to think about how you would answer the questions because sometimes it takes awhile to do that, and watch the lab videos to get an idea of how to do the lab so that you don't take a long time just figuring out how to set things up. Sometimes Professor Thornton will pop in and check on the labs and he's a really nice guy.
