Professor Lomasky is awesome. If you are looking for a well-structured lectured course, this is not for you. Professor Lomasky does not have a set agenda to meet but runs along with whatever the students ask questions about/are interested in. He makes the class super entertaining and likes to make students feel a little uncomrtable (after a couple of weeks you'll see he is joking). You should definitely see him at office hours sometime, he is a great person for advice.
Lomasky is a very interesting professor. He tends to ramble and go on tangents more than actually lecture, but he tends to say some interesting things. Definitely have to read the readings because there are pop quizzes on them. I had a super helpful TA and would not have survived the class without a good TA.
Lomasky is a wild card. I really liked how he organized the theme of the readings through the course, but lecture was in a sense quite worthless. I actually stopped taking notes in lecture because he rambled so much. There was maybe 5 minutes of relevant information at the end of each lecture. He gave the option to write a few papers and the top two count for a grade, had sporadic pop quizzes based on some of the irrelevant material he mentioned in lecture, and had a final worth 40% of the grade. I had a great TA for the course that covered all the material he should have, so I still learned something. If you want a course without much work or like russian roulette, this one's for you. High risk, high reward (if you're into political philosophy)
