Simmons is just an interesting and funny lectures. The reading is not hard at all, with only a few short selections a night. Simmons is so knowledgeable about this subject and conveys that knowledge to his students well. The workload isn't too bad, with two papers, a midterm and final. Discussion is especially helpful, do not be tempted not to go. Doesn't require much background philosophy - Simmons gives you everything you need to know.

This is a great class. Simmons is excellent in lectures and the material is interesting. Readings are not that long but are a bit complicated, so make sure you concentrate on understanding the concepts. Overall an awesome class.

Simmons is an excellent lecturer. Really informative, but also very funny and entertaining.

A fairly straight forward, introductory Political Philosophy class. You will read all of the excepted philosophers - Hobbes, Locke, Nozick, Rawls, etcetera. A strong foundation if you are interested in taking more political philosophy courses in the future. Try to get Nick Frank as your TA.

Professor Simmons is a fantastic lecturer. He makes the class engaging, funny, and simply enjoyable. All of the material is clearly explained, and the readings and topics selected are incredibly interesting and important. This class will definitely make you reconsider many of the views that have been beaten into our brains, such as democracy, social justice, and the notion of the state. Definitely a great class. And not very work-intensive at all; start the papers early and your TA will even look over them for you.
