PHIL 1410

I loved this class. Cargile is totally dedicated to his students and definitely knows his stuff. Class can be boring at times but the material is fascinating if you´re into dissecting arguments, fallacies, etc.

this class is interesting but it is incredibly hard. I usually get As and High B's on everything but I'm getting B minuses and C's on take home open note tests and they take hours.

Cargile is fantastic. The material is really difficult, but he really wants you to learn it. He has a lot of office hours and is very approachable, even though he may seem intimidating at first. The tests may be take-home, but they're still very difficult. The only way to get an A is to work hard, practice a lot, and go see Cargile for ANYTHING you don't understand. I still recommend this class, though, because it's super interesting.

Put in a lot of face time at office hours, spent countless hours on tests, and still got a B-

Very difficult class (just look at the distribution). Put in a lot of practice work. Cargile's very accessible and willing to help. Definitely a must-take for anyone thinking about law school.

This class is SO hard. I don't know what the people below are talking about. Cargile makes absolutely no sense in lecture, he is so old he can barely finish a thought let alone try to explain a concept that you do not understand. Absolutely do not take this class. Worst mistake of my college career. I wish I looked at this grade distribution before I took the class. Honestly, who would take a class with THAT grade distribution. He is tenured so he really doesn't care if he explains things correctly or incorrectly.

Great class. I learned a lot. Very applicable to other subjects and enables you to think critically about any type of argument you come across, whether academic or casual.

Tough, but fair. Take it if you are willing to work hard and think hard. Go to office hours

take it credit/no credit. your gpa will thank you.
