The lectures were okay, but hard to pay attention to for the entire hour and fifteen minutes. If you are good at memorizing (around 200 images for the midterm and final) and can write decent short answers about the material you'll be fine. The class had weekly readings which were, in my opinion, more helpful than the lectures, however since there was only a midterm and a final it was easy to slack off and then cram the week before.
The class is pretty interesting overall, Professor Summers is a good lecturer (but he talks quietly so sit close to the front). I found that it was the perfect way to knock out credits for historical studies and humanities requirements at the same time. My primary method of studying for this class was putting together a flashcard system about a week before each test to get the memorization down and taking notes directly from the textbook, and I got an A without too many total hours spent. Highly recommend!
