This class may be harder for those who have absolutely no music experience even though your TA/professor may say that this class is for those with zero experience. I personally have an intermediate level of experience and thought this was a very easy A. I would say that those without experience may feel that the class is a bit fast paced since they teach you all the notes in the bass and treble clefs and expect you to know all of them by the next week basically. I don't think that lecture was super important but depending on your TA, they may take attendance. There was a very short chapter to read about every class or every other class and easy homework assignments about once a week. Three exams and a final. This course basically teaches you how to play music without actually playing. It goes through rhythms, notes, scales, chords, cadences, and more.
I took this course completely blind to music and it was the biggest mistake of my semester. Do not take this course if you do not have any music experience!!!!! I spent most of the time teaching myself because the professor could not teach. The class is way too difficult for a 1000 level class and definitely not the easy A I was shooting for. The class is surely doable with much effort and discipline but very not worth it for a fulfilled requirement during a hard semester.
This course is extremely challenging if you do not have a music background. The professor was not very helpful and the content was extremely confusing, while the readings barely explained it. DO NOT take this class if you don't have a background in music theory, or if you are not looking to pursue a music degree it is extremely challenging and makes no sense.
