Chattleton was pretty chill - he seemed to be enthusiastic about teaching and was open to questions during class. If you have any sort of musical background (like if you know D major has 2 sharps in it), this class should be pretty free. Otherwise, it might be a little difficult to pick up. Not the most interesting lectures and it is no technology, so good luck. But just memorize your notes before the exam and make sure you understand his homeworks and the exams should feel very fair.
I probably would not recommend this course to just anyone who isn't super interested and invested in learning the theoretical constructs behind music. I was not anticipating the workload of this course, not necessarily assignment-wise but just in terms of the vast amount of memorization and effort needed to be put in to do well on exams. Having zero musical background, learning music theory is similar to diving into a new foreign language, and requires lots of time and practice in order to truly learn and succeed. I would recommend this class based off of Kyle's enthusiasm about the topic and ability to teach somewhat irrelevant and dry ideas very well. This course was definitely not the enjoyable, easy music class that I was anticipating but regardless I am very glad that I took it because I learned a great deal and now feel competent at playing the piano.
