The material in this class is very tough, I did not understand some of the topics until the 2nd or 3rd time that Petra explained the material. She tends to move through material fairly quickly, but will go over it again if need be. While she is not great at explaining some of the things, she is willing to spend time in class answering plenty of questions (and in her office hours as well). The slides she gives you are great, and cover pretty much all the material you need to know (there is really no good textbook for the class). Homework due once every couple weeks, as well as a couple tests and quizzes, and a final. The class is not time consuming, but you need to focus in class to really understand the theory.
The teacher doesn't do a great job explaining important topics. She goes off on a lot of tangents, making it confusing and hard to follow. Even though she's not the greatest lecturer, pay attention and take notes. Her powerpoints will only be useful if you actually attended class and knew what she discussed about. Tests were fair, she will basically tell you what to study and which questions to expect on the quizzes and midterms. Read the Kasap book, it is a bit wordy, but it explains the core concepts very well. Will curve at end of semester. You'll do well if you keep up with the reading. Good luck
