Cai Liheng was one of the friendliest professor's I've had. This class was all virtual/over Zoom, but you could tell that Liheng was a great guy. He never missed a response on an email that I sent him, and thoroughly helped all his students try to succeed. That being said, This class was pretty tough. If you didn't watch a lecture, you would fall behind pretty easily. The lectures are pretty dense, packed with information, and the homework assignments were decently challenging as well. The worst part for sure, were the tests. Each test was 3-4 hours, and had 5-10 open response questions. A handful of the questions were gone over, word-for-word in the review sessions he posted, which incentivized watching them. A fairly hard class, but the majority of the material was interesting stuff that had real world applications.
Professor Liheng was very good. He mostly read over Powerpoint notes, but his concept review sessions were very very helpful. The tests are challenging and long but if you do the readings, the practice problems and attend the review sessions you will do great, plus there is a pretty big curve on the class my year.
