I disagree with the reviews below this. Professor Williams is an amazing professor who is clearly very passionate about this topic, and the small size of this class makes for a very intimate course experience. Additionally, while there is a lot of reading and writing in this class, that is to be expected for a MDST class, and Professor Williams is very lenient and understanding with due dates or late assignments. He is also a very fair grader as long as you put in a little effort and do the work. Overall, I really enjoyed this class and would recommend to anyone who is interested in this topic.
DO NOT TAKE. Prof. Williams is so unorganized it ruins the course. It is definitely interesting material but it is ruined by the fact he takes forever to grade and expectations are not well laid out. We did not get our 1st grade until April, on a paper we wrote the end of February. Further the Final Project is a group project in which he gives very little guidelines but has high and unrealistic expectations. You are required to make a 20 minute video presentation which is very hard to do if no one in the group has video experience. While the material may be interesting you end up having to put way more into the course to get around a B+ while he slacks off and does not put much into it yet expects a ton from the students.
Professor Williams knew a lot about the subject but it sounded like he wanted smaller class (15 student tops) so he got really disorganized and the class lost most of its structure and consistency. The grader was an absolute mess, and very mean! Don't take this class if there are more than 15 seats in it, you will regret it.
