Took this w/ Aniko and would recommend. Each week she gives you a really substantial reading guide and a 1-2 page writing assignment. Lecture is definitely long but you really learn the material. If you spend time on the paper proposal and final paper and spend some time with the reading guides each week you should absolutely do fine.
The class was interesting, and for every week, a different school of thought was covered in regards in media theory; however, many readings were not too useful, and Prof. B is a bit spacey. Plus, she's somewhat of a hard grader, but if you put some amount of time in the paper proposal (3-4pgs) and the final (8-10pgs), you'll be fine, since these two are a huge chunk of your grade. I would recommend taking this class with Press if you want an easier A.
I would recommend taking Aniko's class any day. Each week we studied a different school of media theory and she knows her material well and how to explain it. Each week, you have a 2 page reading response due, which is really easy to write the night before and a great way to make sure you understand what's going on, while boosting your grade. There is a 10 minute presentation once a semester, a paper proposal, and an 8-10 page final paper which you are more than prepared to complete. Even though the class is long, she gives you half a break halfway through and the presentations break it up a little bit. She runs a well organized class and you really get to know the other people in your class. A word to the wise, though, don't use the bathroom during the middle of class and actually do research for the paper proposal and have a thesis or you'll get a low (C) grade.
