Don't take this class unless you're prepared for visions of the beyond. I could've sworn I was seeing things during the final exam, not to mention during the many late nights spent rapidly finishing homework. This course was a semester of constantly worrying about my grade, since my homework average was 10+ points lower than I what I was used to getting in math classes, the expected average on the midterm was around a 60%, and Peter refused to curve anything until after the final. The good news is that after all of the nightmares, you wake up and suddenly everyone has As and Bs in the class because, well, real analysis is hard and so what if your raw score is atrocious.
Peter is, of course, a legend, though he can sometimes be a bit deliberately unhelpful when it comes to answering questions about homework problems and grades. But the fact that he uploads typed lecture notes weekly is a godsend that allows for a bit of relaxation on the note-taking side. And hey, it may be ridiculously difficult, but real analysis is still pretty cool, and this course is a prerequisite for a number of graduate courses, so there are definitely good reasons to take it. Find friends in this class to help you with the homework and to enjoy a little commiseration with.
