Professor Zhang is well versed in the concepts of abstract algebra, but struggles to deliver those concepts in lecture. He often talks quietly into the board and doesn't leave much time for anything but the simplest practice problems or questions. There are weekly homework assignments consisting of about 8-10 problems/proofs of varying difficulty. These took me anywhere between 2-5 hours to complete so don't leave them to the last minute. Assessment wise, the class packs two midterms and a final. These exams are hard but fair. If you study enough and feel that you have a good grasp of the material, I promise you will be fine. Be careful of overstudying, though. The tests demanded a rigorous understanding of the more fundamental concepts while many of the advanced concepts were hardly touched on. Overall, I found the subject matter of this course fascinating, but its presentation sometimes fell short of my expectations.
