This class is definitely not worth it unless you're a math major that has to take it. You take all the things you thought you already knew about math and prove them in such a way that they no longer make any sense to you. Everything goes so fast and you don't really learn how to write a good proof, you just learn how to BS your way through a proof and then call it quits after you have a reasonable amount of things written down. There's no possible "fun" way to teach this class, but it's especially boring when you're being lectured straight out of the textbook. Being in class versus reading the textbook outside of class are hardly any different. Both equally dry, both make you want to drop your math major. That being said, taking this math class will help you appreciate all the other math classes you have taken/will take because you can't possibly imagine them being as bad as this one.
I really enjoyed this class because it really changes the way you think about math and calculus. It takes many of the intuitions we have, and provides a rigorous framework. Professor Vivek wasn't that great of a lecturer, but he wasn't awful by any means. Looking at some of the exams from the other sections of Basic Real this semester, I'd say Professor Vivek was very fair with the material that he tested on exams, and had much easier exams overall. It's definitely a tough course, especially if it's your first proof-based course, but I found it worthwhile.
