Diana Morris is a fantastic instructor. I really learned a lot from her lecture style and her assignments in the course. The problems were challenging but doable based on the notes and examples we'd seen. She offered plenty of office hours (her own and TA office hours) throughout the week, and she scheduled them with students in mind. Our assignments were due at midnight, and so there were evening office hours. This was very thoughtful and very helpful.
Her exams were fair. Other students and I mentioned they were lengthy for the time we were given, but I can't say what the overall opinion of the class was. They had reasonable questions though.
The class is a lot of work to get a good grade. Participation was 10%, HW 15%, and 3 exams were 25% each. The final was cumulative. Pretty solid breakdown, in my opinion. A/B grades are definitely attainable.
(i took this summer 2020) I absolutely loved everything about this course. I heard such hard things about this class, but Diana made the course more than manageable. She has a talent for making complex topics pretty simple. She always helps with homework during office hours. And she is approachable to ask questions (even if they seem silly). Her exams were super fair. The class wasn't easy, but definitely manageable. The class is proof heavy, but I felt really confident in writing proofs after working with her. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!! SHE WILL MAKE YOUR MATH EXPERIENCE SO AMAZING!!! I loved Basic Real, which is so
