Professor is very enthusiastic and methodical; presents the material in a very straightforward and organized way. Material itself is not too tricky, but she likes to give you test problems that ask you to reach a few steps farthur, which makes the tests hard. All the tests are open book, and there is a lot of reliance on take-home tests. Definately strengthened my skills in probability and problem solving.
Snider doesn't really seem interested in the success of her students. Your only real resource for the course is a poorly-written and obfuscated textbook--and Snider doesn't post the solutions to the homework problems until the last minute. Considering that the homework is ungraded, why doesn't she just post all of the solutions at the beginning of the year?
She's quite condescending to her students. She'll usually make snide remarks that sound more at place in the mouth of a gossipy high schooler and normally she disregards the concerns and comments from students. For example, one student requested for a practice exam to be made available (as this would help prepare him for the real exam) and she quickly derided him in front of the class for making a "horrible suggestion".
Most importantly, the curriculum of the class is poorly constructed and not well thought-out. Consider a 'simple' probability question: If there are five numbered baskets (1,2,3,4,5) and five numbered corresponding balls, and you drop a ball at random into each bucket, what is the probability that no ball will be in its correct bucket? The material in the course doesn't even equip students with the means to solve that. Instead most of the course is spent learning about abstract models and symbolism without ever discussing how to apply this to real-world problems.
If possible, try to take the course somewhere else and get transfer credit for it.
P.S. The answer to the problem is 0.3667
