I hate this course, but that's expected from Calc 2. I'm really glad that I chose Prof. Maitra for this course. The material is actually not that difficult to grasp and professor Maitra is actually a GOOD professor in so many ways. He understands the material (going to OH was very helpful), is very lenient in grading, and genuinely cares for his students. There's about 2-3 Web-assign homework problem sets due Sunday/Monday nights that take a bit of time. However, I will say that you can do the 'practice another' to find the solution OR if you manage to find the textbook solutions like I did, they follow the problem number. There was one quiz every Friday morning, although he ended up giving everyone 10/10 on three of the quizzes; instead of giving us quizzes, we would all just go over more problems that day and they were participation points. He truly understands that we are in a pandemic and every student is struggling.
The real problem is with the exams. Prof. Maitra does not make the exam taken in this class (I believe none of the instructors do, but some of the math department faculties do instead) and they are DIFFICULT. There's 3 exams in total + a final exam each worth 17.5%. My score of each exam gradually went down although I did do a lot better than I expected on the final. The class quizzes and Web-Assign problems are time consuming but are not that difficult. But the exams are just indescribably difficult and make no sense most of the time. Even though they give you practice exams + the solutions, the actual exams are like 20000x harder than what's on the practice. Also, there's three written home work problem sets to help 'prep' you for the exam but they don't even help and those are incredibly difficult as well. Do not take this class by yourself - make sure to take it with a few friends. Also, if you can, I highly recommend taking it with Prof. Maitra because he goes over a lot of materials and gives a lot of partial credit. Just make sure you have your pi circle and trig functions memorized prior to taking this class! #tCF2020
