Matt is by far my favorite professor at UVA. He is nothing like what you would expect a professor to be like, but he is the best. Going to class was actually so fun because he always made so many jokes. I don't know if some of them were meant to be jokes but just is mannerisms were so fun. This class also is not that bad. The webassign homeworks are easy to get an 100 on, participation is easy, and written homeworks are easy. The weekly quizzes can be challenging because I personally never studied for them because they are so little of your grade. Also your lowest 3 get dropped. The exams are tough but fair. The professors give you old practice exams, and the exams they give you are just like the practice exams. They are more challenging than anything you do in class, but since they are just like the old ones I feel like its fair. I would just spend a lot of time studying for the exams and don't leave studying until the last minute, and you will be fine.

Coming into Calc II, I was worried about everything I'd heard about the difficulty. Luckily, this course wasn't as challenging as I expected it to be based on what I heard. Matt is an awesome professor and overall, I highly recommend taking Math 1320 with him. He made class fun and engaging, explained concepts well, and his overall demeanor was very conducive to learning. He is very approachable whenever you have questions, and I definitely recommend going to office hours — I only went once and regret not going more. In office hours, he is extremely helpful and I left much more knowledgable than I came in. Overall, I would highly recommend taking this course with Matt, but I would not sweat it if you are unable to find a spot in his section — instructor names are not usually available when registering for the course, and all sections take the same exams, complete the same prep questions, as well as the same homework.
