Daniel Franz is an excellent professor. His lectures are logical and clear, and he goes through proofs of many concepts so that his students can actually understand the logic behind calculus rather than just memorize formulas. He brings genuine excitement about calculus to the class and makes it interesting by explaining its historical origins and relevant by explaining its past and present applications to natural phenomena. He makes himself available in office hours many times a week and is patient and helpful if you come with questions.
Calculus II itself is interesting but difficult. The homework and quizzes themselves are totally doable if you're dedicated and willing to get help at office hours. The homework assignments took me a long time, but I would often do them in one sitting. The exams though are wicked hard and much worse than the homework and quizzes, but they were curved by 20% or 30%. Work to get 100% on the homework and quizzes so that your exams don't wreck your grade.
Conceptually, Calculus II is fascinating. As a class, it's difficult. Be ready to study hard for the exams because the questions are like challenge problems and don't just test concepts. If you love math, then take this class because you'll probably love it. If you need calculus II as a requirement, then try to take Professor Franz because he's very good.
Daniel Franz is a great professor. His lectures are clear and full of good examples that are very helpful with the homework (which is pretty difficult). Although it is hard for him to actually teach for the tests, because someone else writes them, he still does an admirable job. The class is also made a little bit less tense by his engagement with students and occasional nerdy jokes!
