Ted is one awesome professor, making one of the worst math classes I've ever taken a much better experience. The course is extremely difficult. MATH 1310 is not for the faint of heart - I had taken Calc AB and BC in high school, and did decently on both. I expected this class to be easier as a result, but I was very wrong. It is very, very, theoretical and often borderline esoteric, making problems unnecessarily difficult and tests extremely hard.
If you must take this class, take it with Ted! He is an amazing teacher. He is caring, understanding, and always willing to help. He's great at explaining and is genuinely there to help you get through and be the best at math you can be. Highly recommend Ted, do not recommend the class.
This class is taken primarily online, where you watch videos and complete class prep assignments before you get to class and then work on a group work assignment with your table to review the material. I absolutely detest this format and find it impossible to learn anything. A lot of the time, the prep assignments don't teach you what you need to know to succeed in the class and things are very rarely explained before you have to dive into group work together. Our teacher was great and really did his best (he's really great Ted is the best), but the class is meant to be very self driven and self taught and I personally found that impossible to manage. I have taken (and succeeded in) calculus before but found this class incredibly difficult to manage, and can't imagine being successful in it without that calculus background. But even then, I still only understand about 50% of the material we are presented with. I do not recommend taking this class unless you *absolutely* have to.
