Zach is such an awesome professor. He knows exactly what he's talking about and really wants his students to succeed. Whenever a new chapter is covered in class you will probably have no idea what he's talking about but the material makes sense once you work through the webassign problem sets/visit office hours. Definitely go to his office hours, they are extremely helpful and will clear up any confusion you have. Definitely possible to at least get a B at the end of the course.
Calc 2 is always going to be a tricky subject regardless of who you take it with, but if you have the option, definitely take it with Zach Gates. He presents the topics clearly, goes over plenty of examples and is always willing to stop to answer questions, which is really as much as you could hope for with a math teacher. Be ready to take some time to do the webassigns before the day they are due so that you can ask questions if you get stuck on them, and if you struggle with the written homework he is very helpful in his office hours. If you go through the study guides and take all of the practice tests before each midterm/final you should perform to your potential. I found that they were pretty consistent in difficulty to the real ones. Definitely a challenging class but if you take it with Gates you will at least have a prof that cares about his students and is fair, unlike some of the horror stories I've heard about some of the other teachers.
