Bonventre is a great teacher, he makes sure everything is clear and he teaches in a way that is very easy to understand unlike most of the other 1220 teachers. This definitely shows in his test averages, which are usually higher than the other sections. I actually sat in on 2 other classes before I settled on his. The lectures aren't boring and they are easy to follow. There is a good amount of work, weekly WebAssign problem set & quiz, and written homework, but this will prepare you very well for the tests. I actually liked that the written homeworks were fairly difficult because they were much more representative of the questions on the exams than the WebAssign problems. He is also a fair grader, i.e: you won't get the whole problem wrong for mixing up a sign if you still do the rest of it right. All in all, if you are willing to put in some work you can get a good grade and you will definitely gain a good understanding of the material from him.
If you are going to take this class take it with Bonventre. He is a really nice guy, good at explaining things, and a pretty lenient grader. I sat in on other TA's classes like Weaver, who was all over the place. I believe that Bonventre's students do much better on the exams than the other TA's students, so take it with him. Although, the written hw assignments can be very difficult, I went to office hours every week for those and so it turned out okay.
If you are going to take this course, do yourself a favor and take it with Peter! He was an enthusiastic and knowledgable teacher. He really wanted us to understand the material, was very organized, and very willing to help outside of class. I had friends with other instructors for this class who said they had significantly less WebAssigns and Written Homeworks, but I honestly think it was beneficial to have these to boost my grade and help me understand the material better. Be warned that each week required about 5-7 hours of homework for me.
