Supposedly, Professor Rolf was supposed to be the best of the calc II department but he was underwhelming to say the least. Class consisted of him giving us packets with practice problems on them and flinging us into breakout rooms to struggle together without really teaching the material beforehand. With that being said, as long as you show up to lecture and make sure to understand every problem in the packets after the fact, you will do well on exams it's just a matter of putting in the effort.
This class honestly wasn't too awful. Rolf is a pretty nice guy and he clearly cares about his students, but at the same time I feel like he thinks struggling is an integral part of learning. Besides that, he is very approachable in office hours and willing to help. While he is less likely to hand out answers in comparison to other profs, he tries to guide students to the answer. The hw isn't bad at all, but the class prep assignments are sometimes annoying. The worst part of the class is the problem sets, which take HOURS UPON HOURS. I definitely recommend working with other people, but once you're done with problem set, the answers seem a lot clearer and prepare you more for exams (the exam questions aren't as hard or as long but the problem sets help you understand the material more). Quizzes and exams aren't toooo bad. There may be an upward curve on quiz grades at the end of the semester because Rolf tends to give out harder quizzes, but they're doable. Exams suck but if you prepare e.g. do the hw, the class prep, go over quizzes and practice exams, you will be fine. The exams seemed comparable to the pain of math 1210. Personally, I thought the problem sets were the worst part of the class. Overall, calc 2 isn't the best but it's not the absolute worst. Rolf is a decent professor but I would recommend supplementing your knowledge with outside sources as well. For context, I got an A in this class and math is usually my worst subject.
