Ok, I took this Fall '22, but it wouldn't let me select that. Sonkin is a very nice professor, but the way he teaches is almost unbearable. He starts class usually by introducing a theory or process we'll need that day, then goes through several examples. However, the classwork that is supposed to correspond to his lesson is often barely applicable. There is a huge disconnect between what he teaches and what is actually needed to be successful in the course. If you take this class, I highly recommend attending regular P2L sessions, watching Organic Chemistry Tutor on Youtube, and luck sometimes. I am not a math person, and this class really affirmed it. Even in the assessments we had to take (3 quizzes and 2 exams, plus the final), the questions were much more applied than the basic homework questions we were given. Be prepared to put in a lot of extra time for this class if calculus doesn't come naturally to you, or try to take the pilot course, which seems much more focused on learning and growth.
